About Kyle

As a registered architect, I've guided projects ranging from intimate $5,000 renovations to major $2+ million developments, working across both residential and commercial sectors. My years in construction work provide invaluable hands-on building knowledge that I bring directly into the classroom. I've published articles in design journals and traveled extensively to teach architectural software to students and professionals nationwide.

Teaching Philosophy

My passion for education began in architecture school, where I founded PSUDigitalBeehive—a student run organization designed to help peers master rapidly evolving technology when traditional faculty couldn't keep pace. This entrepreneurial approach to learning continues to define my teaching today: systematic, student-paced instruction that lets curiosity and individual interest guide the journey.

I teach at the speed of the student. My goal isn't just to show them how to use Revit, Rhino, AutoCAD, and Grasshopper—it's to help them develop critical thinking skills and cultivate their creative impulse, whether they pursue architecture or not.

Real-World Learning

Drawing from my construction background and maker interests (I'm an avid woodworker and fitness enthusiast), I emphasize hands-on learning. I plan to incorporate full-scale building mockups that give students direct experience with construction practices—bridging the gap between digital design and physical reality.

I wish I had understood architecture holistically in high school—how it creates cultural value and shapes our daily lives," I reflect. I want students to see beyond just buildings to understand how thoughtful design impacts communities.

Preparing for the Future

As AI transforms the profession, I position creativity and critical thinking as the essential skills that will remain uniquely human. My recent mentorship of a high school student who went on to study architecture at SMU demonstrates my commitment to nurturing the next generation of design thinkers.

Whether students continue to architecture school or take their newfound creative confidence into other fields, they leave my classroom with both technical skills and the analytical thinking that serves them in any career path.
